Why do people get married/date?

I’m 15 and I don’t understand why people get married and date. I’m a normal 15 year old and sexually interested in girls but I just don’t understand the point in dating and getting married. Many of my friends date but it seems to me that the only thing that comes from that is leeching from the working spouse, nagging, stress, getting kicked out of your own house (if you’re the guy), and the occasional reassurance that everything is going to be alright… I mean it seems to be for the weak-minded that feel the need for someone to talk to and need them. I’m not sure if that makes me a sociopath or what…

They do it because having a family has been idolized since the dawn of time.I can say that from an objective stand point it seems a little narcissistic to want a family all to yourself.

However, most people date and get married to start a family of their own and pass on their genes because they have decided that cohabitation and love are what makes them happy. You have to decide what makes you happy if it’s not marriage or dating maybe it isn’t for you. There are many people who lead very happy celibate lives.

Lol. A sociopath lacks empathy. I wouldnt use that label. And people get married because it is nice to have someone care if you come home at the end of the day. It is nice that someone cares about the type of day you’ve had, and they will listen to you. To have someone love and support you. Uhm, I dont know about leeching. If a relationship is imbalanced (I.e. one person is getting more out of it than the other), it is unlikely the relationship will last.
