what to do about swelling and inner cheek marks left after wisdom teeth extraction?

Answer #1

well, I had my wisdom teeth extracted about last wednesday and I came across on the bottom right of my wisdom teeth extraction and ofcourse my cheecks and neck are swelled, but I was looking in the mirror and I noticed a chunk of my inner cheeck where i have been and is still swollen is a piece of my cheek wrinkled and kinda detached from my cheek, I can feel it with my tongue and it feels growse but yet im wondering if this is alright and will this be permanet? btw- I dont think im biting down on my cheek either! i cant really tell considering my swelling is horrible!

Answer #2

you definately have to let the swelling heal. wisdom teeth need time to heal and everything around the extraction. give it about 2 - 3 weeks. everything should be fine. I had my widom tooth extracted and i had no sense of taste in the left side of my tounge for a week. the glands in your mouth need atleast 2 weeks to heal. salt + water gargles will help.

Thank you “young_buck”. I plan to have the dentist surgeon look at it friday as well, when he takes my stitches out!

It takes time to heal. For the swelling use ice and Arnica gel. It helps a lot. The scarring will get better over time. just make sure that you follow your doctor’s instructions i.t.o. cleaning and taking care of it.
