How would I successfully plant a Watermelon patch into my new garden for spring?

Answer #1

Find an area in your garden that has well-drained soil and gets a lot of sunlight throughout the day. Use a tiller or a hand shovel to upturn the soil in the patch. Then, leave it be for a few days. Make a shallow hole at one end of the patch and place and place 3/4 watermelon seeds inside and then cover it and tap lightly with the back of a shovel. 5 to 6 feet away along the patch repeat the last step. Make sure to keep the plants at least 7 feet away from the edge of your garden to allow the roots to grow far underneath the soil. When done, add 1 to 2 inches of water to each mound. Keep checking on it every now and then over the next couple of weeks and make sure to pull out any weeds that emerge.
