What is the thing you can put over your guitar strings to help play barre chords?

I’m not big on guitar stuff but I am pretty sure there is a clip like thing you can buy to clip on your guitar. I’ve seen my uncle use one before but I may be wrong.

A capo doesn’t help you play barre chords, but a capo is probably what you are thinking of, it just changes the key you are playing in. FOR INSTANCE. If you would play a C shaped chord with a capo on the fourth fret, it would be an E chord. =]

Yeah I just assumed it would be a capo, since she said put over strings and not over your finger or that. Good explanation

Third hand capos help ya play chords by being capable to adjust every string being ‘barred’ or not… great for exotic chords or making unique sounding songs in odd keys…
