How come I didn't feel a tremor if I am very close to Japan?

Answer #1

even tho i am*

Answer #2

Because it is MADE IN Japan. :-D

Answer #3

well it really depends on where you are. The seismic waves probably died out and there was probably an aftershock where you live but maybe you just didn’t feel it as it was too weak.

Answer #4

That depends oh how strong the shock was where you are. You cannot normally feel an earthquake that is weaker than 3, and you may easily mistake an earthquake that is between 4 and 5 for a building machine making rumour next door or something like that.

Your profile sais you are in Beijing. That is approximately 1320 miles (2100 km) from Sendai in Japan. That is quite a distance actually.

Houston (Texas) is 1380 miles (2200 km) from Los Angeles (California). Would you feel an earthquake that destroys LA in Texas? Geologists could probably measure it.
