Why would someone cut the name of a someone into their flesh?

not to be a jerk, but it specifically said “cut”

They think they will be together forever, so they get a bright idea of doing that.

Maybe they think it’s more personal because they are suffering in the name of that person? I’ve never done it, but I’m assuming that’s why. Maybe it’s just more personal that way, letting someone know you love them that much. And then they get a nasty infection. Eep.

Hell I dont know why anyone would CUT anything in the skin, I mean I have tattoo’s but I guess their is a diffrence. Some people use cutting their self as a to please their self, they do it when they get mad, upset, sad, angry, frustrated anything it’s just the way they deal with things in life. But someones name I don’t know.

my friend used to do that with her boyfriends. but then she was also a cutter…but i think that it seems like it’d be more personal, knowing that someones name is carved into your skin

When I was in 7th grade my girlfriend at the time carved my name into her leg with a steak knife to “prove how much she loved me”. I think it varies person to person, but I think the majority of people do it to prove to the person how much they love them or whatever. It’s not the route to go it just creeped me out haha.
