Can Parents legally take money away from their kids?

I just want to know if it is legal for a parent to take their child’s money away from them, either as a punishment or just to get it.

Answer #1

If you’re a minor, I would think everything concerning you falls under the parents pervue/jurisdiction….they are ultimately responsible for you and your actions….if you damage your neighbors car with a hammer, who pays ? $$….the parents….I suppose if you wanted to pursue a police report on the matter, you could, but I don’t know if you could prevail if pressed….probably make matters much worse (heighten resentment/ill feelings)…..I hope all of you will work together to improve your home environment, good luck.

Answer #2

Personally, h*ll no! If you earned it, it is so yours

Answer #3

No, they can’t but they will use guilt to get you to “loan” it if you dont want your parents to touch your money, just open a bank account and hide your card
