1.write an equaation for the sentence below: The difference of twice a number and 16 is equal to the quotient of three times the number 8.

okay step by step.. the formula is y = mx + b in (3,-6); y = -6 and x = 3 m = slope which is -4/3 a.) so therefore your formula should be : -6 = -4/3(3) + b b.) multiply -4/3 by 3 to cancel your slope out and the result should be -4 c.) your equation is now -6 = -4 + b
d.) add -4 to -6 to get the answer, and you should get -2 e.) to fit that into an equation; you only need your slope and b, so the equation will be.. y = -4/3x -2
