Does wet food really rot a dog's teeth more than dry food would?

Answer #1

I believe so as there is less gum stimulation. You can get them a chew toy or Dentabone for that purpose and tell your vet to check their teeth. Also give them both types of meals not just one kind.

Answer #2

Dentabones tend to be bad for dogs stomachs. What we do for my dogs is once a year the vet sedates them and cleans their teeth of tartar and plaque, then there is a mouthwash for dogs and u put a capful in their drinking water once a day and it keeps their teeth and plaque build up under control along with a good rope chew toy. Another thing for good teeth is throw fido an occasional turkey neck UNCOOKED. If its cooked the neck bone is brittle and he can choke on a splintered piece.
