can anyone think of why i cant ever sleep? i get about 2 hours of sleep every night....any ideas why?

Answer #1

Could be due to stress - are you stressed or worried about anything? Also if you are not eating right that can have the same effect even if you don’t feel hungry when you wake up. Warm baths, herbal teas and soothing massages can help you relax for a good nights sleep.

Answer #2

none of that has worked ive been like this for about 7 years now

Answer #3

I hate to say this because … I really don’t like going to doctors but have you talked to a doctor about it?

Answer #4

If you have been like this for seven years i think you are pretty much set in your sleeping pattern. Also you are superhuman for living on only 2 hours of sleep a night for such a long time.

Try to get a sleeping pattern going, once you have it down you will find your sleeping problems should ease up.

Answer #5

Answer #8

nope i hate going to them

Answer #9

If you eat late, or drink coffee after supper, they can give you new energy that needs to be burned off before sleep can come. Or your bed may be far to uncomfortable.

Answer #10

Stress will keep you awake, if you’re going to bed “thinking” about things….like there is a committee meeting in your head. Once you start worrying about NOT getting sleep, then you’ve just added a new and additional stress.

I use what I call mind pictures….anything calming….gawd, I hate to admit it, but for a while it was………….bunnies :)…I know, sounds stupid, but for some reason, dragging my mind away from the turmoil, and just picturing bunnies would allow me to sleep.

Answer #11

you are right 100%.i think of flowers.that helps me

Answer #12

There are a few factors that can keep you from going to sleep at night. You could be stressed about something, or be physically ill. You also have to take into account what you do before you’re ready to go to bed.

Eating close to when you want to go to bed is a bad idea. Food settles in your stomach and can keep you awake as well as cause pains. Also, do you use the computer late at night? The light from a laptop or computer screen can fool your eyes and in turn trick your brain into believing it’s daylight outside, causing you to stay awake.

If you sit in your bed and watch TV or lie awake thinking about things you have to do, that could also be part of your problem. When you do things in your bed other than sleep, you subconsciously disassociate your bed with a place of rest. If you’re restless, get up and do something then go back to bed and try to sleep.

Reading or drinking Chamomile tea can help you fall asleep. If you listen to music, try listening to something soft and soothing, or meditative sounds (i.e. static, recordings of storms, nature sounds, etc). Also try mental imagery, things that are calming and nice.
