Should I re-clip my lovebird's wings?

I have a pet peachfaced lovebird who had his wings clipped when he was a baby (so we could tame him) and now they’re growing back and he’s flying more and more each day. At 8 months old, he is now fully tame, but I was wondering wether I should let his wings grow or clip them again. What do you think?

Answer #1

if the bird is already fully tame then no. But the only reason I would see for you clipping the wings is if you dont want him/her flying around the house, or possibly out a window..

Answer #2

no do not clip the wings becuase if you clip them now he/she will lose trust in you just leave the wings as they are its better when you have a bird flying aground

Answer #3

Yeah, but he loves flying around and it gives him a sense of freedom. But on the other hand, if by chance he does get out (highly unlikley)he might manage to fly somewhere miles and miles away, and he’ll sit there wondering why I’m not there to pick him up.

Answer #4

Yes. Unless you have a really good reason not to. you don’t want to lose him out the door do you? That would be horrible! Poor Zac!

Answer #5

all of our birds wings aren’t clipped. (we have seven) I have to say however that are first bird we had did get out. we got him back though. it’s made us more careful on having birds out. for example we don’t let a bird out of their cage in a room with a direct access to the outside, enless the door is locked. I recomend doing this too. you could also put zacs cage in a room with no direct access to outside. (I’m not counting windows when I say this). keep that rooms door close while you have him out. you don’t have to have them clipped but you do have to take precautions.
