What is the safest way to cut my cat's nails?

Answer #1

Take him or her to a professional (a vet), who knows exactly how to do it…and is more likely to do it the correct way, without harming your cat.

Answer #2

Trimming nails can be difficult if you are inexpereinced. If your cat has light colored nails, you can trim them with nail clippers and just be sure not to cut into the vein (Which shows as pink). If they have dark nails, its much more difficult and easy to make a mistake.

You can get one of the new nail grinder things that are out (They are around $20 at Walmart). They are safe and easy to use, but some pets do not like them at all (others are great with them).

The safest way is to get your vet to trim them

Answer #3

Bolt cutters, they should geter done.

Answer #4

Do not trim ur cats nails with nail clipers for humans cuz it can cause ur cats nail to splinter and also becasue cats and dogs nail etc are curved not str8

Answer #5

There are clippers that are made for cat nails. Just go to the pet store. The first time I suggest you get your vet (or someone experienced) to show you where the veins are so you dont accidentally snip the vein. It isnt hard but you need to know what you’re doing, I had the lady who gave me the cat show me how to do it.
