What do you think is the root cause of certain OCD's (obsessive compulsive disorders) and how do they progress?

I personally think they are a result of trama and rooted in fear. What do you think?

Answer #1

I agree. All Mental Disorders have resulted from things such as fear, abuse, trauma, repressed memories. I don’t think a person just develops them for no reason, I think there’s always an emotional cause. And when the emotions just build up you start feeling the effects.

Answer #2

except for autism.

Answer #3

Mood disorders come from a combination of organic and environmental causes. Someone with a predisposition for a mood disorder may not live in an environment that fosters it and never develop that disorder. Likewise someone exposed to an environment that triggers the disorder in others may not succumb because their emotional makeup is resistant to it.

Answer #4

According to latest studies on OCD and patients with OCD it is clear that most if not all patients show high levels of dopamine and serotonin in their system, Brain scans have confirmed that the Nervous system of a patient with OCD is different from a patient without it, The nervous system is said to be “rewired” and impulses to certain regions of the brain are prolonged and/or repeated while the tested patients (OCD and without) follow set instructions…

It’s made apparent that OCD sufferers are permanently “rewired” thus a cure is unavailable…

Kimi Marie Botha emotions do not cause mental disorders, a mental breakdown is different from a mental disorder, because most mental breakdowns come from the individual sufferer not being able to cope with reality

Mental disorders are mostly characterized by hormonal and chemical imbalances, where certain hormones and chemicals are missing or in higher than normal volume, causing damage to the cortex… i could go on….

Answer #5

oh right and what the Original Poster was thinking about is a Phobia which usually stems from a trauma in the early childhood… or abuse….

Answer #6

So what are the origin/ root causes of chemical imbalances?

Answer #7

So what are the origin/ root causes of chemical imbalances?

Answer #8

Actually no, I do not have chemical imbalances. My disorders stem from my childhood and I wouldn’t have suffered them if I had a better one. And this is not coming from me, it’s coming from the ten different therapists I was shipped to who couldn’t figure out my ‘chemical imbalances’.

Answer #9

Now I’m not saying it can’t cause a disorder, but a person who is affected by things such as bullying is more likely to suffer a disorder than a happy child. They’re called Mental for a reason. It’s the emotions we feel. The truth is there are many different theories and not just one answer. But I can safely say I have no chemical imbalances, but I’m the Poster Child for disorders.
