Potty problem

Ok so I have a german shepherd and she’s about 8 months on the 29…we just moved into an apartment and she’s done a good job of not peeing in the apartment and we always walk her like 4 times a day so she can go potty.

However, it started last week when she peed inside our room and today she peed and pooped(my boyfriend walked her four hours before this and she went pee and poo). My boyfriend said that it was the scent of the other pee(which I cleaned up) that makes her think its ok now. She’s forbidden in any room with carpet now.

My question is that if there’s anyway for her to stop? She has never done this before at all, so im worried she’s starting to disobey now. Is there anything we can do…I bought this boundary thing a while back but im not sure that’s for potty reasons. Please help.

we have a school park close that we take her everyday because she looves playing fetch with tennis balls. everything is going better now, I think she knows she couldnt do that because she wants to go in the room with us but she cant. I let her now, her puppy eyes melts me all the time lol

thanks for the you two for the advice :D

I agree with amlyam…not just getting her out for peeing a pooping, but a GSD needs exercise EVERYDAY or they will find their own things to do (usually destructive things)…The fact that you moved might also play a part in her marking her territory…or causing some separation anxiety (she’s not in her familiar surroundings)

“Cleaning up” isn’t enough…You have to get a cleaner with enzyme breakdown qualities…Doesn’t matter if YOU can’t see it or smell it…you dog can…and yes…the oder does prompt her to go again. (You also don’t know if someone else’s dog hasn’t peed and pooped on that carpet, which would also prompt to remark the territory).

She’s not going bad on you…she just needs more exercise and time to adjust to her new home. A tired dog is a good dog.

She probably isn’t starting to disobey…she probably needs to be let out more than 4 times a day though. And yes, the scent of the other pee will tell an animal it’s okay to go there again and just cleaning it with regular cleaner isn’t going to get out the scent. I suggest going to your Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Walgreens, and checking out the pet department and cleaning department. They have specialized products to use for pet urine if you haven’t already used these products. Also, maybe look into training pads if you can’t let her out more than four times a day.
