How come people can go to war at 18, but cant drink until 21?

Do you agree with this?

Answer #1

Absolutely not. I complain about it all the time. I think its ridiculous that a person can go to war, kill another human being or be killed, but they are not old enough to drink! I don’t think anyone should be going to war so young.

Answer #2

I don’t agree with it. an 18 year old is old enough to go to war and risk his own life, but can’t even drink for another 3 years? I think it’s ridiculous to be considered an adult while not being able to lawfully drink.

Answer #3

I Don’t know what to think, I berly started thinking about that and know, it’s just confusing. Who knows?

Answer #4

Because theres this little part of your brain called judgement that doesnt fully develope until youre around 21 22 so you dont have the correct judgement to drink and know your limits. with war its different. i think we need anybody we can get and when you fail out of school and got no where to go the military seems mighty fine sometimes

And this has been asked a thousand times. The reason they pushed up the drinking age was because when it was lowered, there was more drunk driving accidents and what not (yes, by teens). You should note that if they are going to war, they are in a foreign country and thus allowed to drink at whatever age the drinking age is there. In most countries the age is 18 (there’s a handful of exceptions world wide). And if you’re interested, this was debated last year by a huge group of college presidents

Answer #6

so basically they are aloud to kill before they can hangout and have a bear

Answer #7

This is in America because we have the laws that apply best to life as you can see, but I mean, everyone knows you can drink if you do it right.

Answer #8

your looking at it from the wrong side friends, its what the problem with alcohol not war. yeah people can go to war and stuff but the reason why alcohol is ILLEGAL under 21 is because of what it does to your brain, it kills braincells, which means even at the age of 18 your mind is still growing. Mainly your Frontal lobe, which is the primary decision maker. so if you drink when your under 21, you will be killing VALUABLE braincells that you will NEVER get back. no they dont recharge, thats a myth. its not about the whole aspect of war, its about your body and what alcohol does to you…
