Okay holiday question.

Apparently people are overly excited of what they got for Christmas, was anyone proud of what they gave? For example my son got a few nifty things, his favorites were Elmo Live, and a remote control batman car. Cheap things but to a two year old I dont think I have ever seen him happier. My inlaws celebrate Christmas so for them I baked a cake that collapsed but wasnt actually a disaster. I added some raisins and a sweet sauce and turned it into bread pudding. Wasnt chef quality but still pretty good.

Over the past few months my mom broke her dust buster and my dad broke his deep fryer so I decided to replace both things over Christmas for their presents. My boyfriend and I didn’t want to buy each other something, we decided it would mean more to make something for each other so I made him a beautiful scrap-book of photos, poems, and lyrics. He loved the scrap book a lot and said nobody has ever made him anything, it gave a lot of meaning.

Although my children did receive some nice things (I try not to spoil them, as I find it ruins the idea of what the holidays are really about), the one thing I gave that really mattered was a chance.

I bailed an old friend out of jail (by “old friend”, I mean we haven’t spoken in ten years), and she is now living in my house while I try to help her sort out her life so she can get her children back. Nobody else would help her.

What an interesting question, and yes, I was very happy with what I had to give, and considered it a real blessing.

I just happened to be ( I don’t believe in coincedence :) at Lowes, at the right time. They had just marked down a very large collection of Poinsettas, and they were in all colors, traditional red, lovely blue, purple, burgandy, and cream color. They all had glitter on them, and were very beautiful.

I was able to purchase them for a very reasonable amount, and because of the deep discount, I was able to give one to everyone around me, including my neighbors.

I was very glad to receive this blessing, as well as to be able to share it.

Thanks for asking…

I made baskets and added jars of 3 different kinds of homemade cocoa, a quick bread and sweet and spicy pecans. It was all made, delicious and fun.
