is it okay for a preacher to lie?

my preacher does out side of church jobs but when he worked at our house he lied and told a relative that he was at work but he wasn’t

Well a preacher follows the rules of every other christian, but they are held as role-models which means that they have even more reason to stick to the boundries that the bible suggests.

Its not okay for anyone to lie.

But God still forgives everyone :)

If he wasn’t on his own time, he was working, but otherwise nobody should lie. Easier said than done for most of us. I tell little ones to spare feelings.

if he was working at your house, then wasn’t he working?

though a preacher’s work is up for question anyway… what you could consider just visiting, a preacher might consider work. Preachers have duties as the head of the church to make housecalls and keep up appearances. to him, he could call it working.

also… preachers are just people. they try to do what is right, but they don’t always succeede
