I think I have depression?

Things havent been going too great for me, I dont really like talking about my problems to people so I just kinda keep it all inside. I seem to be having these sudden overwhelming breakdowns where I just start crying. it started when I would walk around in a sort of haze not really processing whats going on, like im there seeing and feeling whats going on but its not really me. its getting worse and its to a point where I have to be reminded to sleep or even eat, and I heard that letting out a thing in your blood that causes depression would get rid of the depression… so you probably guessed it I went for the razor blade. I dont like doing it it just helps, but now I cant stand having to do that and im afraid to go to my mom about this what should I do?

I don’t know where you heard about the razor blade thing, but it’s ridiculous! I hope you stopped, because depression is actually about a lack of neurotransmitters, not an abundance of! Depression usually results due to a depletion of serotonin caused by an hypersecretion of corticosteroids (stress hormones). One of the main characteristics of depression is a sense of hopelessness and loss of funcionality in daily activities. If you’ve been eating significantly more (or significantly less) lately, struggle to sleep, have breakdowns, and generally struggle to take part in normal daily activities, you should go see a doctor.

im the exact way but I didnt know to put it in words…u should fun mail me…we should talk…but for right now I would try to stop with the blade because I mean its bad and I know it helps a whole lot but its hard 2 stop but you should for a little while anyway…try writing how you feel…and then throw it away or burn it…that might help but rilly we should talk

I used to have severe Depression from around 10 till 17 and went to a hypnotist (I know some people are skeptical) who also does councelling and I learned a lot from her, she told me things I couldn’t put a point on it and she got it spot on. Yeah I sometimes get in ruts but they don’t last so long. Hope this helped :)

I think you should see a doctor before things start to get more serious.
