I dont want to be a witness against him

I am 17 and my boyfriend is 20. He has recently got into trouble with the police and I am now a witness. I have been told I am not allowed to contact him for up to 6months and he will get arrested if he does contact me. I have been told I probably wont even have to go to court but only have to give a statement. Can I say that I dont want to be a witness? Or can I ask to give my statement now so that I can speak to him? Nothing he says will change my mind about what I am going to say in his case, but I want to stick by him all the same, however much he has messed things up. Anyone know what I can do?

Answer #1

you can choose not to give a statement, its your right to choose… you CAN speak to his lawyer about it or ask someone who knows about the laws in the state you are in, or just go to a lawyers office and ask there…

be advised you shouldnt give out statements without knowing if you make the case worse… and always check what you said is written down correctly…

no I wont lie to anyone about the fact that I did not consent to the images being put on the internet. I know that 100% I will not say anything other than the truth. but all I want is to be able to talk to him again. 6months is a long time.

O_o what exactly is it hes being kept for? if its anything really bad (murder, huge theft, gang brawls where someone was beaten to near death etc.) then you have to testify, other than that you can say no I believe…

Answer #4

so I can say no I dont want to be a witness. because I’ve read that in some cases I HAVE to be one. and what I want more than anything is to NOT be a witness at all.

Answer #5

First of all if he has pictures of other girls underage on his computer you probably don’t want to be with him or talk to him ever again because that just isn’t normal he has issues obviously. But see I’m 18 and my girlfriend is 15 so when I’m 20 she will be 17 so I cant call the guy sick for dating someone 3 years younger than him b/c I feel me and my girl are perfect for each other her maturity level is high for her age and we get along great in every way.

Answer #6

youll have to testify, you arent just a witness, you are a victim, if they have the proof then you cant backout and have to testify, be clear of your point and tell them the truth for whatever they ask…

im wondering now why you choose to be by his side if he uploaded pictures of you in the nude… ill say it even though you might not listen…dont go back to him no matter what, if he had other girls pictures on his PC then he might have also been cheating on you…

Answer #7

okay its going to sound bad but possession of child pornography. pictures were taken of me (with my consent) and put on the internet (without my consent) but because I am under 18 it counts as child porn. plus I am part of a bigger investigation as I believe I wasnt the only pictures found on his computer. however I still do not want to be a witness. do I still have to?
