I have a Maltese and she has pretty bad tear stains all around her eyes, what should be a pure all white dog has brown stains on her face. Any suggestions?? She gets bathed regularly and the stains dont go away.

My mother gives her maltese a teaspoon of plain cream cheese once a week to get rid of the tear stained eyes. She's only had her puppy for two months and you could notice a difference after the first "serving." She also uses a washcloth if she is going out with him somewhere. I have to be diligent with my buff girls or they will get the stains. I have tried all kinds of "potions" but what works the absolute best is a cotton ball with plain warm water. I wipe the eye area and then follow it with a dry cotton ball. I do this twice a day and I keep the hair trimmed down. It has been the ONLY thing that works!
I trim my puppies tear stains...
first I wash her nose with tear-free baby shampoo and concentrate on that area, gently
And when she's dry I get scissors and clip CAREFULLY around the area
