How is drinking too much water unhealthy?

I try to drink lots of water to be able to lose weight. right now, I drink 10-12 glasses of water each day. I would drink 4 glasses of water at one time. is this unhealthy? if so, how?

Your bladder will not explode but you might pee your pants if you don’t get to a toilet quick enough. It won’t make you lose weight directly but it does fill you up. Just remember if you are weighing yourself, liquid does weigh a lot so don’t think you’re gaining weight because of it. Water makes you healthier because it flushes out your toxins which makes your skin healthier and such. Water is very filling so it will make you feel full when you haven’t eaten anything.

Well I wouldn’t say its unhealthy because they recommend you drink 8 to 10 glasses a day. But its going to make you lose weigh…lts better to help you lose weigh then say pepsi would!.

I want everyone who thinks bladders can explode to show me the medical records or newspaper articles where that has happened. Even once.

Do you have any idea how much a bladder can expand? And do you think maybe, just MAYBE the body would force you to release its waste before it got to the point of one of its organs exploding?

There isn’t a lot negative that can happen from drinking lots of water, the occasional rare case of water intoxication notwithstanding (like the woman that died in a radio contest trying to win a Wii). But it also isn’t going to help you lose weight either. It might help keep your stomach full so you avoid feeling hungry, but there are no weight-loss benefits to drinking water.
