Shouldn't have to pay dentists for fixing our teeth?

their equipment is VERy expensive, they don’t really pleasure us… but that’s what you get here in the US if you don’t take care of yourself. It would just be helpful if it wasn’t so (fill in the blank with any assortment of words) expensive.

I lived in frnace for five years and it was all free over there and I don’t understand why it can’t be like that everywhere if were supposed to be the greatest country should we take care of our people?

We don’t have healthcare for everyone here like some countries do. Healthcare for everyone has its pros and cons. I believe that dentists charge way too much, that’s a fact. But to give away work that he spent many years studying for is crazy. How would he stay in business, or pay his assistants and hygienists? They certainly aren’t going to work for free. As a former dental asst, I know that we due the majority of the work in a dental office, just as we nurses do the lions share of the worj in hospitals. I personally wouldn’t work for fee in either case. I love nursing, its rewarding and even entertaining at times but with all that’s required of us, I wouldn’t do it for free. Dentists have a great deal of overhead, but enough where they have to charge the prices they do. (•:

well, also all of the stuff dentist use to treat us. how would they get that without money we need to pay them so they can do it.

It’s a profession - extensive schooling / knowledge required - they get paid for what they know, not what they do - if you can fill, root canal, pull, straighten, etc on your own, you don’t ‘have’ to go and pay…don’t really think that’d work too well, LOL !

I think that we all need to get paid but its ridiculous that the government is not doing more to help those who cant afford it. Some people have to lose teeth and suffer from other easily fixable ailments because they dont have health insurance and such. Its sad that hardly anyone goes into the medical profession to help people anymore. Its all about the paycheck!
