Will it cost me anything to go to the hospital in BC if my Yukon healthcare card

is expired? My parents told me they would send me my new sticker but I still haven’t received it yet and I have a weird lump on my neck that has me kind of worried. The problem is the healthcare card I have is expired and I have $50 to last me until the end of the month. Will they charge me if I go to get checked out or is it possible I can hold off until I get home on the 23rd?

Usually, when you update your a healthcare card, you are given a document to prove that you do have the coverage, even if the card is no longer valid, to help you deal with situations like this one.

From your question, I’m of the impression that you don’t possess any such document and - as you said - you’re still waiting for a sticker.

Without valid proof of coverage, you can expect to be charged for a visit, but most charges are refundable once you do provide proof of coverage.

I’m sure there won’t be any trouble waiting until the 23rd to see a doctor, unless you are experiencing pain or other seemingly related symptoms.

From what I can get from google it’s a swollen lymph gland which also according to google isn’t usually too big a deal, it does hurt when I move my neck wrong or if I touch it. So if I do go in before the 23rd how much do you think they will charge me? Because like I said I have $50 till the end of the month
