Can an 11 month old dog safely have puppies?

About two weeks ago my female pug got herself tied to a male pug for a good 10 to 15 minutes. I’m 99% sure she is pregnant as all the signs are showing. My biggest concern is that she’ll me due right around her 11 month age mark.

I understand nature allowed her to get pregnant, so obviously she can, but how safe would it be? I’m really concerned about losing her.

ps: To the self-righteous who stand upon their spay/neuter soapbox, thanks I’m already aware of that, I didn’t ask about that.

Thanks angelicx!

P, I’m well aware of the spaying/abortion option and will certainly do so if it’s the safest course of action for her. But if the puppies and the mom can be saved, so be it. No need for the “fortunate” comment, that was unnecessary.

Yes, it’s a risk…and with Pugs there is even more risk…those large heads. Get a relationship going with a Vet NOW, so should things go down hill when she whelps, you have someone who is there to help you. I’d also get on the internet and start reading up on everything you need to know when the time comes…expediency will save her life and her pups…when she whelps is not the time to get on FA asking for advice.

Just an FYI, you can have a pregnant dog spayed…it might be something to think about if you don’t have the money for a possible c-section.

How fortunate for you…what are the chances of your Pug tangling up with another Pug…? I don’t buy it.

Umm I think its abit too risky. If you can go to the vet and ask them whats the best option because im sure there is either a pill the dogs can take or they can get an abortion if it will effect her development as she is still very young and as she is a small breed it may be difficult to get an abortion but the best thing you could do is try to look up more information on the internet (google help) or even a more experienced person who breeds pugs. Good luck. I hope everything goes well :)
