Answer #3

Well, he only recieved two awards in his life - a $50 prize for “MS. Found in a Bottle” awarded by the Baltimore Saturday Visiter in October, 1833. And, a $100 prize from the Dollar Newspaper for his story The Gold Bug. He was also inducted to the hall of fame in New York, in 1910 - if that counts :)

Answer #4

You know now that I think of it, he was never appreciated till after he passed away which was penniless and homeless. His history and his life are so sad for such a talented writer.
