Can my 23 year old boyfriend get in trouble if I'm 17 and prego by him?

and my family is okay with it? We live in the state of New York

Answer #1

I dont know what the age limits are in NY. And well it depends on who exactly would be reporting it to the cops and why. Just dont go around advertising the fact that your boyfriend is 23 and no one will have any cause to report him.

Answer #2

If he’s going to get into trouble, it’s because your parents wanted him charged. The police won’t arbitrarily arrest him unless a formal charge has been placed by your parents. (Little head’s up - the police don’t know how old you are unless you tell them, and they’re not watching your every move)

Answer #3

I have to agree 100% with colleen…they have so many fish to fry in NY unless you brag about it to people & then they feel like telling someone about it!

Even if they did, you have your parents consent to being “ok” with it…so you shouldnt have a real issue with it…just try to keep it on the low…less hassle about it!

Answer #4

dont be going and telling people you are prego im sure he can get arrested for having sex with a minor if it gets to athorities and make sure your family is supportive because they can turn him in without your say in it is so good luck!

Answer #5

Just to add to that, therapists and certain other medical professionals are mandated reporters, and if it is illegal, they may have to report it. So again, just be careful who you talk to about his age.

Answer #6

Yea but can’t they look up all his info I thought doctors have to keep things to them self if you tell them

Answer #7

They don’t have access to his info - it’s not their business, and for the record, a 17 year old getting pregnant is not enough grounds for them to report it. If that were the case, there would be a lot more men in prison.

Answer #8

Yea buh for him to sign the birth certificate he has to fill out his info so they can report him on the spot buh what I was thinking I was just gonna give the baby his last name nd let him sign the certificate wen I’m of age

Answer #9

most likely. you may need to consult a lawyer to protect yourselves.

Answer #10

Seriously? If your parents don’t formally charge him, then nobody is going to take action against him..relax already.

Answer #11

Colleen, that is not strictly true in certain states. Therapists have to report stat ra.pe. If the parents are knowingly allowing it they can be charged with negligence. I dont know about doctors. But either way, it is very unlikely that will happen. In cases where no one is being hurt or manipulated and given your age, doctors will not call the cops.

Answer #12

Given her age, it’s very unlikely. If she was 13, then there might be a problem. If doctors did report every case of a 17 year old pregnant with an older guy, the court systems would be backlogged for years.
