How many years of college is it for Journalism, and what classes should I take now in high school for it?

Someone help me out please.

Answer #1

I’m not completely sure on what classes to take, but I think it would be a good idea. To join the school paper if you have one, that way you can get use to dead lines, and etc.

Answer #2

The thing is I don’t go to a regular high school, I go to an Indepedent Study school so I don’t have those kind of classes where I go to school like “school paper”.

Answer #3

it’s about 4-5 years in college. and you want to do anything English based related that u have at your school.

Hey Amanda, I graduated college with a Journalism degree and it really depends on what in journalism you want to do. Most colleges teach print (newspapers, magazines, on-line) and media (radio, television) journalism. Either way you will want to take a lot of computer classes because when you break into the industry one of the first things they are going to have you do is work on their website posting stories and uploading video. It will also be a big help if you learn HTML which is the code you use to build websites. For high school students I would recommend writing for the school paper and researching if the college of your choice has a media journalism school. Or because its a dying industry you could start a blog and try to make contacts and skip school…best of luck.
