do you think i should worried if i have bloody stool ?

I had 2 bowl movement today and both times were bloody bright red. I called my doctor but she set up an appointment with me in a week cause that’s when she’s available . Do you think I should go to the hospital ?? Or just wait ?

Answer #1

I had food poisoning about a month or two ago and I had bloody stool. A doc told me that it’s because vessels in your rectum burst and causes bloodiness. If it’s a dark red, then the vessels are farther up. If it’s bright red, then its vessels that are broken closer to your anus. She said it’s nothing to worry about though. Unless it persists for more than a couple days, I think you should just wait… But I’m not doctor, so do what you feel is right for you.

Answer #2

I remember when I had pooped out bloody stool. I didnt panic at first when I saw it because I didnt feel any pain. I didnt go see a doctor anything and I’m alright. But maybe you’ve got another case..if you feel like you should go see a doctor asap, then you should.

Answer #3

My doctor basically said the same to me as KaHeeLee’s doctor. I had it from Hemroids before. Bright red blood generally isn’t cause for immediate concern, darker blood is more. If it happens again I would have it checked out though.

Answer #4

The others are right, bright red blood is from bleeding near the end of your large colon - very possibly an internal hemorrhoid. Dark red is from higher up and could indicate a more serious condition. However, vigorous or excessive bleeding of any color could be much more serious and should be explained to your doctor if this should happen.
