RG is right, hillary never had any seances. She said that while working on her book It Takes A Village, she woud sometimes imagine having a conversation with Eleanor Roosevelt when she was looking for inspiration. A far cry from taking advice from an astrologer.

Actually, the only First Lady who is confirmed to have had actual seances in the White House was Mary Todd Lincoln. What Hillary Clinton did was not a seance.

It was one or those gaffs that will happen. Nancy Reagen did use Astrology, she did not have seiances. What he was referring to was actually a Hillary Clinton attempt to contact Eleanor Roosevelt. He did make an immediate apology to Nancy Reagan for the gaff.

Not his misspoken words that I concern myself with on Obama’s policies.

LOL…no…he wasn’t poking fun at Nancy as much as at himself…He said he’d talked to ALL the former presidents, and then added…only the “living ones”, and said something about Nancy and her seances (which actually was an astrologer, not a medium)…either way, it wasn’t worth an apology

Well, unfortunately I didn’t hear the speech but, I think if Obama said that about Nancy Reagan, I believe he should apologize. It sounds like he’s way off topic. Sorry I can’t give you more of a good answer since I didn’t hear the speech.

Given the large S&L scandal in the 1980’s trickle down reaganomics, etc…I think he could have taken a bigger shot & most people would not have cared about it :)

I have to say I was a little disappointed at the remark, but on hindsight it is normal, its a carry-on from the partisan atmosphere of the presidential campaigns. What I say is, let Obama transit into president-mode, and judge him after the end of the 2008-2012 term

Bottom line: Disappointed at Obama, but doesnt affect my approval of him. What matters is that he is able to run the country well

when people make up their minds about hating(or loving) someone they are constantly looking for things to rationalize why they don’t like them and in their own mind prove they are “correct” about the decision they have made. this is just amiblessed futile attempt at trying to justify to himself why he hates obama. It was a simple slip of the tongue followed by an accidental twisting of facts relating to two presidents.

He was saying how he had talked to all living presidents. Then he was going to talk about communicating with dead presidents and said “Clinton” then realized he fouled up the continuation so had to switch to Nancy because he was trying to talk about dead presidents.

It was Hilary Clinton who had attended séances seeking the advice of dead presidents. Nancy only sought the aid of Astrologers after Reagan had been shot.

AND, Obama did call and apologize to Nancy immediately after that press conference.
