Why so many poor in a world of riches?

I think that if Christians had truly followed our Lords teachings, we would not have anywhere near the needs that we do. We are all too concerned with our own … to think about others. And, I know that much has been done, in the world, thru Christians, but, I believe that we could have, done so much more. In America alone, we waste enough to feed many third world countries, and I believe that God is hurt and offended by this. I cannot see how he could be happy, and proud of us, that have so much, and so many have so little. I believe that each of us should step up our efforts, to help our fellowman. Christ commands it. He also tells us that what we give, will be given back to us, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. In other words, he is a generous God, and he wants his children to be also. When we share with others, he takes notice, and he has promised to repay, actually more than we gave, so… what hinders us? Open your hearts today, hear his voice, reach out, like you have never done before. Believe that God sees and hears, and will reward you. Do not give to get, give because God said to give. Believe his word, and act upon it. He never wastes anything, remember the loaves and fishes ? How he fed the multitude, and had 12 baskets left over. He and only he can do this kind of multiplication. We cannot. But, we can offer what we have to him, and allow him to do with it as he sees fit. We will not need our riches in heaven. We will have no need of anything there. Everything will be provided. What if God has blessed you, in order that you may be a blessing to others? Think that could be possible?? I think so… very much so… Ask him what you can do, he will show you. He will guide you by his spirit. Listen to him. Learn to hear his voice. He said, My sheep hear me, and they know my voice, and another they will not follow. Are you following the Great Shepherd ? Or another ? Is what you give being multiplied? if not, perhaps you are giving to the wrong place. Seek his will, now, more than ever before. Time is quickly passing, and today is the day of salvation. Give until it hurts… you won’t be sorry.

GREED one word shows it all the mistakes of our ancestors and because of their greed the ‘black’ countries were plunged into slavery and their countries left in dispair when white men took over plunging the ‘black’ people into poor life and their economy has never risen

I’ve explained my views on this before, but, in brief, I believe that there is poverty and injustince in the world because of selfishness, greed and indifference. I agree with you that the Lord has provided what each person needs, but I feel that they don’t get everything they need because other people try to keep it for themselves, or try to keep control of their wealth/power in other ways (e.g. though wars).

If people around the world were truly obedient to what they learned in the Bible, or in fact in most if not all of the other religions’ teachings, then there would not be this odious gap between the rich and the poor. We are all to blame - all of us have some luxuries we would not give up for the sake of a person on the other side of the world we’ve never met.
