When do you know your ready to have sex?

My boyfriend and I have been going out since we were 15 and we are now 18, so far we havent had sex. We have fooled around and I guess we are getting bored, and almost everytime we do fool around it gets real intimate. I am nervous for some reason to have sex with him mostly cause I dont want it to hurt. I would just like to know if we are far along in our relationship to move it to the next step. Another reason why we are wanting to take our relationship to the next step is because he leaves for the Marines in five months.

We’re not prude or anything, Im just really scared. And for some reason I think I wont like sex, Im scared I wont. I know Im weird.

Well you want to save your virginity for someone who you care about and it should be a wonderful experience, so you should make sure that you aren’t being pushed by a time or date and just wait until the time feels right. However if you truly feel your relationship is “boring” then sex won’t be the answer, or maybe you meant your sexual life is boring I don’t know but think about what sex could do if if he was away? I think you should wait. Going without sex for long periods of time is extremely stressful on a long-term or permanent relationship. Better to wait till later, at the least. OR better yet, you’re married.
