We are buying a house with one bedroom having red carpeting. What color walls and accessories do you suggest? And do you think we have to have red curtains or drapes?
What shade of red?
You need things that are harmonic with the color. So it does matter wether you have red with a tendency toward orange or one with a brownish /terracotta tendency or one with a blueish/violet tendency.
Make sure your room doesn't get too dark.
You could combine shades of orange or yellow if the red isn't blueish. That will make the room look 'sunny'. Maybe pale yellow walls with an orange bordure.
I'd combine white, cream or pale gray to an intense wine-red. Gray will make it look modern and it goes best with minimalistic plain-style modern furniture. Like a black, unadorned fouton-bed. Cream and white goes best with rural stlye. I imagine ornated white furniture with red-white checkered bedcloth and drapes.
I would choose 1.Cream 2.A very light brown 3.I think red curtains would be better then drapes :) You want the room to still be red but not dark and gloomy more airy,do not use dark coulors or your room will be dark.Maybe put a mirror on the wall a painting of a rose or maybe a stripy canvas, something not to complacated a simple stylish painting.A rug but not a fluffy one and not red or there will be to much red in the room.A plain rug would be more stylish then a patterned rug.I hoped my advice helped you! :)
id go for a cream with red curtains..maybe a picture canvas in red on the wall you see when you walk in the door..dont go for another dark colour look all gloomy =) accerrories in cream and red
I prefer white accessories with red or white curtains with a light wall colour!!!
