What are the legalitys of Running Away

I am running away for the weekend. I just need time to myself to figure out what I am going to do in life, and more importantly, what I want to do. At home I live with 9 other people a dog, and a cat, and all but two are employed (one of which is a work from home job). So as you can see it is a little hard to think there. I am in Independent study so I only go to school once a week to turn in my work, but I have been missing my classes as of late do to a messed up sleep cycle, so I have been grounded and unable to leave the house save for the occasional trip to the library to work on homework. My room is in the basement, which is both moldy in places, and dusty in places this is due to the well in our basement. I am minorly allergic to one of the two down here, I don’t know which, it is just enough to make me feel like I have a constant cold. My questions are; is it legal to run away at age 14 (though I am almost 15 I don’t see that making a difference), if I do run away are there certain protocol I must abide by, and what happens if my parents call the cops?

Please don’t run away. Bad things happen to teen runaways, even temporary ones, especially girls but boys too. If your parents are already mad at you and don’t trust you, how do you think they’ll react? If I was them I might assume you were on drugs or something, and I’d try to limit your freedom even more once the police brought you back. If you need a peaceful clean place to think, go to the library. It’s not just for homework. Seriously, you can spend all day in there and they have computers and books that can help you learn more about whatever decisions you’re trying to make. Going for a walk is good too. And if you hate going back to a moldy, dusty basement at night, clean it up a little.

From what I know, you won’t get arrested (my brother ran away when he was younger) but if they call the cops, they will take you back to your house if they find you. Once you’re 18, or close to it they don’t really try to find you cause you’re so close to being grown, but seeing as how you’re that young they’d deffiently take you home if they found you. Plus you’d have to deal with everything when you got back, like how upset your family would be. Maybe you can just leave the house and go for a walk, if theres any parks around you? Just to save the hassel of getting in more trouble with the parents, or whoever you live with.

If your parents call the cops & report you as a runaway you WILL get arrested.
