When a tornado is near does the wind stop?

everything in my area seems a little off. Yes we are under tornado watch.

strange things happen when tornados happen, but the wind does not stop… the eye of a hurricane has a strange calm but that is not the case with a twister. The closest i have ever been to a tornado was about 2 miles and the sky was green. I couldnt hear the train that some people report but I assume that is when its on top of you.

No the wind does not stop when a tornado is near. But you’ll find that all animals will hide by instinct. There will be no birds in the trees, no cats on the street. If you have a dog it will probably hide under your bed and if you have a cat it will be hiding in a tight spot. If you have a caged animal it will try and bury itself in it’s hay/paper etc etc. The eye of the tornado, directly down the centre at the bottom is completely still, though.
