Can I take my tapers out to clean my ears?

So I just started stretching my ears on Sunday and I know you are supposed to start with 14g but they just slipped right through my ear so I went on to the 12g. It hurt just a little and there is a tiny bit of blood when I take it out to clean it with my sea salt solution and soak the tapers in alcohol. However, I was wondering what is the proper way to clean it. Can I take the tapers out for a short period of time to clean it or should I leave them in since they are a little raw?

Well first off you shouldn’t even be wearing tapers. The undistributed weight caused by them will give you blow outs, I advise you to put plugs in. Sea salt soaks are fine, but I’d leave it in a few more days, or weeks, then do your soaks. Also, there should NEVER be blood(or pus), that indicates there was probably a tear or you stretched to fast. Another thing, since you mentioned the blood I wouldn’t stretch up for at least 2-3 months. Time is the key with stretching.

I know about the tapers, I just dont have any plugs atm. And thank you for the advice, I’ll try not to take it out to clean it. I just didnt want it to get infected.

To stretch safely you need to a) wait a good amount of time between stretches- some people think that the next morning is a fine time to stretch again but in reality you need to wait 2 weeks-2 months depending on how fast your body heals and how much you stretched. b) use proper equipment- tapers are perfect for stretching but you shouldn’t leave them in too long as the heavy end will drag and pull the hole unevenly but that’s more of a problem in larger tapers. If you want to have them done properly you could consider getting them done professionally. The piercer will give you professional advice and stretch them in a clean sanitised environment. Anyway, the answer to your question is that if you take them out after you have stretched they will very likely bounce back to the size they were before. This could also make the surrounding skin harder to stretch again straight away. If there is a little blood, just wipe it away and clean around the hole. If there is a lot of blood, take it out, clean it and wait for the tear to heal. You DON’T want it to heal around the taper if there is a huge tear!!! Believe me! I’ve seen people who have done this and they will have a lump of wonky tissue on their ear their whole life!! Hope that helped ):
