All of a sudden my PC is saying that it doesn't recognize my USB device. What the heck?
It’s always recognized it before now.
Even with plug and play that most Windows systems have now, you need to make sure that your computer knows what you’re sticking in it. Most of the time it can go find the right piece of software (a driver) to make the device run, but it sounds like this didn’t work for you. In this case I’d try Driver Boost, it’ll help you find what you need. I had a pair of earphones it helped me with, good luck.
