What makes smoking relieve stress?

Answer #1

the addictive nicotine causes unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. the nicotine tells the brain to calm the nervous system, also more carbon dioxide is inhaled than normal which is another factor that acts nearly the same.and smokers also get several other benefits from smoking like increased concentration, more energy ‘boost’ mental ‘strength’ to deal with tough situations, curing boredom and relaxation. but it is not worth the addiction since it is proven that it is one of the hardest addictions to break and causes serious lung problems…

Answer #2

as far as I can tell, it doesnt. It increases stress, and puts alot of strain in a lot of different systems in your body. It may make you feel less stressed though, because it increases dopamine which pretty much makes you feel happy, just like most d.rugs

tbh, im a smoker, and i think its partially to do with breathing, you take a deep breath IN, then you blow it back out, cos when you have stress or anxiety…if you breath deeply it calms you down and gets rid of the stress…maybe its the same sort of thing haha…im trying to quit smoking by reminding myself that i can get rid of stress without it lol
