Shitzu wont eat and pees everywhere,

My friend’s shitzu approx 3 years old had spine surgery a week and a half ago and she wouldnt eat at all and pees everywhere , now she is eating a little bit better but keeps peeing everywhere what can we do ?

Answer #1

Drinking and peeing a lot can mean she has diabetes, has she been tested. She may be a diabetic dog. She has to be drinking a lot to pee a lot. Have you told the Vet this part of the story?

Answer #2

Let her heal…back surgery takes quite a long time for the nerves to regenerate so that control of the bladder and uretha are up to snuff…(this is true of people too)

Talk to the Vet who did the surgery and get the facts on how long it might take…and what are the chances that she will fully regain bladder control.

already took her back on mon , she did had an inffection and was given meds but my friend says she stills pees everywhere all day long . I keep thinking is normal since all the stuff she just went thru but friend insist that there’s gotta be something we can do to help her

Answer #4

Have you had her to the vet??? She may not have control over her feeling the blader pressure if she has a spine injury. Please take her to a vet. and if you have already then call that hospital back and find out what else you should do

Answer #5

I told you before she just had a traumatic surgery, you need to be patient. Be happy she is alive and can even pee.

Take her outside as often as you can (ideally every hour) and hopefully that will help her with the peeing. She underwent a huge health issue - if you just had spine surgery you might not be up to par on your peeing either. It takes time to recover.

Answer #6

So did she have a UTI?? Does she seem to not have control over it?
