haha no. when i was little and i didnt know much english, we had to do a project at school and they asked for baking soda.. and i didnt know a difference so i used baking powder.. and my whole group failed the project.. but haha yeah whatever.. no you cant replace.. especially for cooking, they have different effects.

I would say so. Baking powder is largely baking soda, with the addition of an acid which helps baked goods rise, especially if what you are cooking doesnt contain a lot of acid.
