How can I better prepare myself for AP US History?

Because it’s an AP class, expect more note-taking, essay-writing, and homework. Focus on learning A TON about the subject, and also practice writing killer essays. By the end of the course, you should be able to read historical documents and draw conclusions from them using what they say as well as your knowledge taken from the class. In other words, it’s important to pay attention and actually learn all of the information. This is not the type of class where you just memorize facts, spew it on a test, and then completely forget about it. The work load might seem redundant at times, but it’s easy to get used to. I personally thought APUSH was boring, although I’m not particularly interested in history, and my teacher was also kind of an ass, haha. There are some good online tests that you could take to help study.

Study, take notes, re study It master the basics and move onto the hard and complex stuff oh history until It becomes basic stuff
