Do you think people in jail should have rights?

Do you think people in jail should have rights even though they killed, raped, stolen, ect.?

Answer #1

Hi,

I think you have a very valid question on this post, but I would have to say, “Let He who is without sin cast the first stone.”

I have been there and for very good reason. I paid the price and will continue to pay the price based on societies standards.

And yes, my rights were taken away, but they haven’t been given back either since my release. This is why I fight for the rights of prisoners who are pending release and strive to help those who need help.

Rights in any culture or situation are taken for granted rather than being cherished. The only rights I do have is the practice of my faith, which I’m grateful to say is the only guiding light at the end of a long tunnel.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Be anxious for nothing, but everything through prayer and supplication, let your request be made known to God, and the peace from God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus, “ I to this day believe that my life is now a blessing and a privilege, not a right.

Actually I believe a prisoner has some right. . . The right to a hot hummid cell in the summer that smells of urine. The right to a cold damp cell in the winter. The right to bread and water daily. AND The right to a slab of concrete to sleep on

Answer #3

NO!!! BECAUSE THERE VERY BAD PEOPLE!!! THATS WHY THEY WENT 2 JAIL!! DUH!!!

Answer #4

I am currently taking a law class and we are studying human rights. People in prison are not allowed certain rights because of the actions they have commited. If you are going to steal than when you get to a prison the punishments aren’t that bad. If you than proceed to act out in prison they will punish you more severely. Basically it depends on the situaton, the crime fits the punishment and I believe that the rights they do have they are entitled to

Answer #5

I think limiting their rights is necessary as a consequence… But they are given freedom.. with a few laws.. If they cant follow the laws.. Why should they have rights?

Answer #12

“Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone” rnealw. And when they’re released from prison since they will have no rights…no rights for a decent job…no rights for some to receive financial aid for college…no rights to decent rental housing in some states. Let it be your house they break into to steal things to pawn, your mother who is mugged on the street and your taxes who pay for their welfare checks. We should not deny punishment for ones actions; however, you can’t punish someone for doing something wrong and deny them when they try to do something right because of it. You will never understand what it’s like unless you experience it. I shrugged my nose at women who had been incarcerated until I ended up there myself. Better watch those tax returns Mr. Perfect.
