My internet connection

I have an internet connection box thingy, and when it storms I loose my internet connection on and off. Is this normal and is there a way to prevent it?

Answer #1

Put the “internet connection box thingy” on a UPS (battery backed power supply) and next time it storms, the power can shut down, but the modem will continue to work with your DSL or Cable connection.

Answer #2

I get that - its annoying, I know. You should turn off your computer completely when you know theres a storm on the way. This way it won’t blow, and when the storm is over, just turn it on again.

Answer #3

yeah that happens to me and all the people in my area all the time lol. best thing is just to turn it off when it wont work, and restart your computer, and wait like 20 mins then turn the internet box thing back on and wait like 5 mins for it to start up and stuff. the internet works if I do that most of the time, but sometimes its just the storm and nothing will change it. your neighbors internets probly off too. it sucks aye! lol. x
