I agree that most breeds go into heat around six months old. Yes, it does depend on the breed. The smaller the breed, the earlier they go into heat. If you do not plan to breed your dog, go immediately to a vet, and have your dog spayed!!! The population of un-needed dogs and cats in this country has reached a phenomenal number!! Dogs and cats are put down by the thousands in this country every day. So, unless you are a licensed breeder - have your dog spayed ASAP! If the cost of spaying is prohibitive, there are clinics and organizations that will spay your dog for a minimal fee or no fee at all. Please do the “right thing” when it comes to your female dog!!
