what rooster comb mushooms look like?
Do you know what rooster comb mushooms look like?
What I know as rooster comb mushroom is usually called chicken of the woods. It’s a shelf fungus, looks like shelf, growing on dead trees usually, sometimes live ones. I think it’s woody and not very good, but some people like it and think it tastes like chicken. One tough old chicken, imo.
It looks like shelves growing out and it is yellow to orange. As far as I know there are no poisonous varieties, but I am not an expert. I never eat any mushroom unless I know who picked it and how well they know mushrooms.
Mushroom poisoning is at best inconvenient and at worst, it’s said, one of the most painful ways to die.
But there are lots of really cool mushrooms out there.
