How can I get my mum to pick her act up?

my house is usually so un-organised and messy i hate it- but i thought it was just me&my sister… my mum went away Friday till today. and i looked after the house, i kept tidying it and it has been tidy since; my mum comes back and its a state.. kitchens got food all over, cushions everywhere.. ‘ told her sort yourself out its a mess.’ i get shes’s busy all the time with work and my nan.. she had a day of and she does nothing !!!! then makes loads of promises to me she had no intention on keeping… i cant STAND it.. she just makes a joke out of everything’ im seriously considering moving out

you should try and sit her down, have an actual conversation about how you think it’s embarrassing and disgusting. Maybe she’ll “try” and change? Or if your like my older sister, make your own mess and say, ‘’You don’t clean, so why should I?’’ :P

I dont know what you already tried and I dont know your mom so all i can tell you is what i did. I made a big dramatic show about cleaning up the mess, id walk through the house and looked irritated and a bit frazzled (ull want the pity factor so dont look too mad look more upset) and dramatically cleaned. I would sigh and clean loudly and be sure she saw it and talked about all the stuff I had to do but oooh no I have to clean etc etc It worked for me. Its like an old therapy trick, dont tell them the answer and what to do or they will do the opposite, you have to make them think its their idea. I hope this helps
