Low White Blood Cells

My doctor told me I have low white blood cells after getting a blood test done, she said maybe I had a virus at the time but I thought they would be high when youre sick? Anyways I have to take the blood test again. Why else would they be low? Because I felt prefectly fine when I had the first test done.

Answer #1

it could be your colon my grampa had to get a colostomy after his white cells were elevated.

Answer #2

The white cell count is sometimes lower after viral infections - flu and glandular fever in particular. It is not a cause for concern.

I suggest at this stage you take echinacea - a herbal product – that is good at raising the immune defences to viruses if taken for brief periods (don’t take it for more than a month). You can get it at the local pharmacy.

Answer #3

Yes you’re right. If theres more white blood cells it means you have an infection- not if you’ve got less. White blood cells fight infection so why would there be less if you had an infection? INtersting diagnosis from the nurse :S

It could be man things but only the nurse can tell you the problem (if she actually knows what she’s talking about!)

Answer #4

Your immune system might be weak or fighting with foreign invaders a lot.

Answer #5

You need to discuss with your Dr.
