White Blood cells

Ok so I went to the doctor for a check up and they took a sample of my blood and it read back that my White blood cells were low… What does that mean???

Answer #1

White blood cells help to fight off infectious diseases and foreign materials. They work with your immune system. The fact that your ‘low’ in them means that your body isnt producing a lot or enough of them to be ‘normal’.

Answer #2

White blood cells increase when you have an infection, they race to the “scene of the crime” so to speak (the place where the infection is at,actually) to fight the infection and kill it. Could be with your white count low it could possibly be your immune system is slightly altered. Your best bet is to contact your Dr and talk to him/her or their nurse and get their thoughts on your blood work. {=

Answer #3

as far as I know you have different types of white blood cells that do different things (all fight disease though) from a cold to cancer. the best thing and quite possibly the only thing you can do is ask your doctor. when you went for a check up did you have a cold or were you feeling ill? (even if it was around 2 weeks before and after) chances are you were recovering from something
