Love letter?

No matter what you say, if he’s the least bit ethical, he’s going to have to tell you “it just can’t happen”. You’d be better off keeping your feelings secret.

Instead of a love letter, why not give him a simple note? Ask him if it’s possible to meet up for lunch or something along those lines. That way he won’t be scared away.

Dearest Daddy

Mommy tells me that you are coming home for my birthday next month. I am so excited! I am looking forward to your return to celebrate my 8th birthday with me. I know you have to work to bring in the money for the family, as mommy tells me, and I am learning to appreciate your hard work so that I can have all the nice things I want.

I will try not to want so much so that you don’t have to work so hard and be away from me so often but I do like the stuff you get me. Maybe just one more for my birthday; I saw a great baseball jersey, bat and ball complete with a cap in the stores last week with mommy. Mommy says the whole package is quite expensive. Maybe you can buy it for me as my birthday present. I would like that very much. Mommy says it may be cheaper in Asia than at home.

I love you so much, daddy. I miss playing ball with you.
