lost city of Atlantis

Was Atlantis Greek Island??

if not what did it have to do with the Greeks?

Answer #1

I don’t think so but I’m not entirely sure. I do believe that a greek philosopher believed in it , something along those lines. But I agree you should definetly look it up.

Answer #2

That Greek philosopher was Plato, in his ‘Timaeus’ and ‘Critias’.

You could try www.unmuseum.org/atlantis.htm or www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/greeks/atlantis_01.shtml

for starters.

Over the centuries, people have tried to place Atlantis in various locations (as you’ll see from the websites above), mostly in the Mediterranean area and thus within the sphere of the ancient ‘Greek world’. Unfortunately, Plato didn’t provide an exact location.
