Her Mom Amelia disappeared in a plane crash, Richard sank further and further into obsession, consumed with discovering what had become of her. A few years later, he himself died while on a dig in Cambodia.

I know she had Lara right after marriage, and he died 9 years after his wife, but I’m not sure how old Lara was in relation to the timeline.
